Verdict

Okay, here's the scenario. An MPV just isn't big enough. Your family is growing, you operate as a taxi or a limo driver, or... you just want to drive a big van-like car! If you fall into this category, then maybe it's worth thinking about vans with seats in them. Like the Transporter, this makes a great bus. So too does the new Toyota Proace Verso, or the Citroen Dispatch Combi. All of these machines are vans that have been turned into people carriers, and when it comes to practicality and space, they're hard to beat. They certainly don't offer the great looks that you get from a car, but wow, they'll let you drive in comfort. The equivalent from Mercedes-Benz is called the V-Class.

Performance

you're looking for a car that will get you from 0-100km/h in four seconds, then you are on the wrong page. This type of performance is not what these cars are about. They're about versatility, comfort, and practicality. With that said though, if you opt for the V250 Bluetec model with 190hp, you will get from 0-100km/h in 9.1 seconds, which is pretty swift for a vehicle of this size. Also available is the V200 Bluetec that offers 136hp and the V220 Bluetec that offers 163hp. All of the options for this vehicle have 4-cylinder diesel engines. Mercedes claims an average fuel economy of between 5.8 and 6.0 litres per 100km.

Ride & Handling

Drive this the way it should be driven and it offers a very comfortable ride. Drive like a lunatic around corners and you will find plenty of body roll and a whack of discomfort. This vehicle is large, and should be driven with that in consideration. The steering is good, and the actual ride height really adds to the experience.

Refinement

This is among one of the more refined van/mpv vehicles on the road. Yes, it still sounds like a van when you put the foot down, but the interior is well padded and very comfortable.

Quality & Reliability

Depending on the trim level, these vehicles can be very luxurious and extremely comfortable. The dash is simply laid out and there is plenty of cubby space too.

Safety & Security

In 2014, this car received a full five stars in the Euro NCAP. It is surrounded by airbags and comes with some excellent safety packages. Some of the technologies include Attention Assist and Crosswind assist. There is also an optional Lane Tracking package.

Space & Practicality

These are extremely practical machines and depending on the seating options that you choose there will be zero cause for complaint - for all passengers of all sizes. With all seats in place there is limited boot space, however, because there is ample space on the inside, it won't be difficult getting luggage in one way or the other. This will also be extremely practical for using as a van.
