The new Lexus RX was unveiled during 2015 and it has now entered the market against the likes of the BMW X5, the Audi Q7 and the Volvo XC90.
This SUV is only available with on engine, the 450h. This 3.5 litre hybrid, 6-cylinder, engine gives 313 hp and will bring you from 0-100km/h in just 7.7 seconds. It offers a top speed of 200km/h and is mated to a CVT gearbox. Tax for this vehicle is low, considering the size of the vehicle, and it falls into category B1 (€270 per annum for road tax). The UK market benefits from some other engines, which aren't available here.
On the road the RX is a very relaxing drive, and most owners probably won't notice many negatives. However, if you were to compare it to some of its rivals, you might find that they corner and steer in a better fashion. The CVT lets the car roar a bit too as you put the foot down on the motorway.
The RX is refined and well-padded throughout. It's generally quiet on the motorway once you get to cruising speed, however, as already mentioned, you will hear the engine groan a bit to get up to speed if you have your foot down.
Unsurprisingly, you will find that the interior is luxurious from entry level. It has a dash layout which is to our like and it's made up of good quality materials.
This vehicle comes with pre-crash safety systems, adaptive cruise control, high-beam assist and advanced lane keeping assist. It also has a blind spot monitor.
The interior is very spacious for passengers and 5 adults would fit in. There is no transmission tunnel either, which is good for more leg space. The boot however, offers only 453 litres, which is smaller than its rivals.
