The price is excellent and for it you get great practicality and a decent enough car. The interior equipment may not be excellent but you get what you pay for. The fuel economy is excellent in the diesel model.

The ride is not great, there is an abundance of road noise and the gears are very stiff.

Verdict

Dacia is seen as the no frills car brand and to be honest they wouldn’t be far wrong. They may be inexpensive, but relative to what they are selling customers are getting a very good deal. Sure, many of their cars are built using cheap plastics and many of them are as basic as cars from the 1990s. But despite all of this they offer cars that appear to be in good working order. Most of them are very practical too. All of this at a very reasonable price.

Performance

The Dacia Logan MCV (Maximum Capacity Vehicle) is not the best performance vehicle on the market. The 1.5 litre diesel model, the dCI90, offers a not too powerful 90 bhp and will bring you from 0-100 km/h in 12.1 seconds. Also available is the petrol TCe 90, this 3-cylinder engine offers 90 bhp too.

Ride & Handling

The Logan MCV is by no means a great road handler. The gears are stiff and the steering is very heavy. At higher speeds the suspension adds a bit of bounce to the cabin and things are not the most comfortable in the world. The car itself has a dependency on lower gears to get any type of cruising speed, particularly while driving between 80 and 100 km/h. This is where you should be beginning to cruise, but unfortunately when you think it’s time to move up a gear the car suddenly starts to grumble and demand that you go back down a gear.

Refinement

This vehicle is not very refined. Road noise from the diesel engine is nearly unbearable – especially if you end up driving through any tunnels. Noise appears to be coming from the mirrors, the wheels and the road in general. If you happen to drive over any sort of challenging surfaces at above 60 km/h you will also notice that it doesn’t react brilliantly to bumps either.

Quality & Reliability

This is a no frills car but at the same time it does offer things like USB and Bluetooth connectivity. CD and radio are as standard. The dash is made out of cheap plastics and after driving one for a prolonged period rattles will soon be noticed. However, when you think about the price of this vehicle it has to be said that the materials are perfect for what you pay. Apart from the terrible road noise and the flaws within the vehicles performance, the Logan MCV is a comfortable enough vehicle.

Safety & Security

Many people who opt for a Dacia Logan will be looking for safety, space and reliability more than anything else. The Logan MCV comes with an adequate amount of safety equipment like; driver, passenger & side airbags, isofix points, ABS, EBA, seatbelt warning systems and an open door warning system.

Space & Practicality

This is where the Logan MCV excels. This is an extremely practical vehicle. For example, the boot offers 573 litres and if you put the seats down that number jumps up to 1,518 litres. Leg and head room to the front and rear is ample. This is large car measuring in just shy of 4.5 metres, so space like this should be rightly expected.
