huge, have two labradors i took out the parcel shelf and put them in i probably could have got two more in! for nothing changed oil,oil filter, air filter and spark plugs and had change out of €50 easy car to do diy on not too sure havent had any problems with mine no problems there either bought this car as a runaround for a few weeks in an auction for €500 and 7 months on i still have it i love this car its solidly built roomy inside and goes sweet as a nut flew through its nct and starts on the dot every morning looks a little bit dated though thats only drawback 1.8 has plenty of poke when she gets going but is a bit thirsty good level of spec for year.
Huge - you will fit everything in your house and more in this boot - so thumbs up there. No comment - except, the new Mondeo doesn't have a petrol or diesel cap. I know this because the first time I went to fill it I was all worried that I had somehow lost it (even though I had never touched it before) and I thought there is no way the dealer will believe that I didnt' lose it. Sooooooo, I went into a different Ford dealer (I know, seriously sad) and I asked if I could buy one. The guy then explained that they don't have caps! Not a clue. Actually, one thing. A better car. I guess the guy in the second Ford Dealership could have sold me a cap - so that is something positive? I was given this car as a replacement recently for a few weeks and I have to say, I just don't like it. It is a big monster of a car - massive boot, long, no huge bonnet. It requires a gi-normal parking spot and it has absolutely no pep. When I'm driving it I feel like thrusting back and forward to make it go faster. Seriously. I wouldn't buy one in a fit..
Really reliable car. Has never let me down. Cheap to maintain. Powerful and economical. Loads of boot space in the hatchback. Sturdy and well built..
This is the standard 2.0 Litre TD version - noisiest diesel engine ever - same engine used in transit van - great car overall though - solid, good at high speed, good steering and brakes.
my model is the two litre petrol and modified because was a ex police car so very fast much faster than golf gti 2006 and cost nexed to nothing for the year.
the car has done 144k and still going well.
great value in 2nd hand. My wife has driven VWs and over the years has had far more issues than my Ford, mostly small things though in fairness..
this is the 2.0L auto version and I find it very reliable.
2009 model and having it for 3 weeks absolutly love it.
In this spec car is expensive for a ford but much bigger and much better equipped than an a4 or bmw 3.
Lovely car to drive, handles the road brilliantly.
I would not recommend a Mondeo to anyone.BAD CAR overall??????????.
drivers car excellent handling huge inside and boot best car ive had in 23 years driving.
120k and drives like new unbelievable power and 50mpg.
excellent drivers car with superb comfort and handling..
lovely car to drive, all the extras that a boy or girl may require are here..smooth and comfy on the road.reasonable price,i think...not the mad money the prestige people are seeking for the badge hunters.
Not too refined or as economical as other diesels, but great value secondhand..
Sluggish for a 2.0 petrol but I get 38 mpg but driving steady. I have really abused this car and its still going strong with 193 miles on the clock! Very reliable and excellent value for money - poor resale values make them great value for second hand buyers. Head to head aginst VW guarantee they are in general more reliable.
very comfy, sticks to the road, great look also keeps the value. but I was expecting more from this model..
Good car to drive.
my second mondeo great cars tried others but no competition, none reach the driving experience..
144.000 miles up now.
With only 38000 miles I think timing chain should have replaced under warranty..
Great car if you have a good local dealer, loads of space, loads of comfort starts EVERY time..
diesel engine in this car has great pick up over any petrol i've driven for the money involved.
excellent familly car. great fuel economy. 51 mpg. a bit pricey new but no other car turns my head like the mondeo..
dont buy any fords...
Bought this model on prior experience of 1994 mondeo 1.8. The 1994 vehicle was an excellent car, very reliable and never let us down - the 2005 model was a complete let down in every respect from servicing by ford dealers to performance. Have driven better Daewoos!!!!.
Brilliant car to drive seccond to none in it's class. Heavy on petrol tho and Reliability is not great..
i find the driver seat uncomfortable..
Good on the road with Pirelli 6000 tyres (stdrd Kleber-Michelin tyres good in rain but bit less sticky on the road) and the 115 horse power TdCi is a good economic engine (51mls/gallon) for long distance commutes. Interior is very classy and car looks very good in silver but front seats uncomfortable for tall or short person. Front windscreen heater is a bless (as long as it works). Very roomy spacious car, excellent for family and DIY people, sporty car too. Unfortunately not very reliable, but so are BMW's only the owners paid too much for the car to admit serious faults(paint bladdering off, window rubbers melting in the sun etc)..
Very solid vehicle, great kick particularly when overtaking. Parking sensor is handy, very good on the juice, chrome finish on the exterior is a classy touch, especially for the black metallic model..
This is my fourth Mondeo and is a brilliant car for family and business.I find my dealer is excellent on car service and on trade in every two years (same dealer for the 4 cars)..
Boring reliability really. I grudgingly accepted the old model Mondeo ('00 model) as a comapny car some years ago. Honestly it was a bit of a dog but it grew on you. My current Mondeo is in a different class altogether. Great car...
excellent comfort and drive, mostly small niggly problems which the dealer fixed under warranty. dealer said he couldnt identify problem of non start. i have my doubts!!.
This is my 4th.Mondeo and this 2005 model is the best.I have had no problems with 54,000 Kms on the clock..
Pros ... Big, reasonably quick, reliable, comfortable, economical. Solid feel. Nice to drive, good handeling. ...(because its a ford) Cons ... Could be faster, very 'ordinary / practical' image. ...(because its a ford) 4 door is better looking..
GREAT CAR FOR SENSIBLE MONEY..GOOD TO DRIVE .LOTS OF COMFORTS.
Bad resale value but a cheap second hand buy. Very comfortable and reliable car. 180'000 on it and like new.
Comfort is only above average on long journeys, and handling is very good. Fuel economy is not as good as hoped for (only about 30-35 MPG) previous 2 litre petrol car gave 35-40.
Would never think of Ford but drove it as company car. Great car to drive. Plenty of storage. Good on diesel. Am looking for Mondeo as own car at the moment..
Loads of extras and big comfy car for the money. Mpg of high 40's/low 50's under mixed driving. Reliability poor though, let me down twice and still only 11 months old. Clutch replaced under warranty, intercooler problem also fixed under warranty in under an hour. Garage response was the same in both situations "common fault". Could not recommend this car to a private owner who could possibly be faced with big bills after warrenty is up. As a company car it has done 30000miles in first eleven months. Should be trouble free, its not..
The car ,apart from these hicups I actually like it,The first (and probably last Ford i buy). Nice to drive (when working)handles well, A good looking estate, heated front screen, electric seats, good stereo. MPG is not to good, but this is another factor where living in Jersey has come into it, (Mainly urban or 40mph narrow country roads) no motorways. All in all a great 2'4 children car, which maybe im a little too young for..
Excellent ride and handling - can throw it into bends with full confidence. A super car..
good improvement on the one model looks wise, too many on the road ,no wow factor.
Marvellous car to drive but huge depreciation,.
The car really speaks for itself, solid reliable confident on any road good audio system lots of gadgets electrically adjustable seats front all round electric window etc, The best car ive ever owned and definitely the best buy in a long time Confidence inspiring on the road I can’t fault the car.
Great diesel engine with lots of power, but does not deliver the fuel economy that Ford claims. Doors are lightweight and do not close with a solid clunk unlike my previous Golf GTi and Alfa 156. The car though looks superb and looks expensive with its body kit 18 inch alloys and performance blue paintwork..
reliable and all around nice drive.
Mondeo has proven itself to be a great used buy. I've driven the car from Britain right across Europe and back twice and it has never let me down. Superb autobahn cruiser and supremely comportable even after 10 hours driving with minimal stops.Very economical. Just make sure that the timing belt is changed and mechanically it will go forever..
Apart from the fact that the climate control unit had to be replaced and it sometimes takes longer to start than it should, this is an excellent car, great handling great performance and very comfortable.I also just found out that if you hold the alarm button on your key for a few seconds all of the windows will open if your opening the car or close if your locking it..
What an amazing car! I was given this as a company car very reluctantly, I never liked Fords. What can I say? Handles beautifully, very comfortable, stable and solid on the road, 100% reliable and in TDCI 130 guise it is a real hoot to drive. Bags of torque and power and yet easy to run. When I have the 80,000 miles on it and it is time to switch I will be ASKING for another Ford!.
just found out that my car has another undocumented feature - global closing... try yours - double-press you lock key and then hold the button for a few seconds when the windows are opened. Do the same with unlock button. Great family car, would be nice to get seats with massage though! :).
The mondeo is way under-rated..
130BHP doesn't sound a lot but the TDCI engine is a wall of torque. Huge difference from the 115 TDCI which I also drove. Massive performace from a diesel. Handling very fluid and really enjoyable to drive hard on challenging roads. Overtaking with this mid range torque is amazing. Well equipped and well built. Residual value will be an issue though and the idea of owning a Ford Mondeo is just a bit naf despite the cars abilities. Looking for a Diesel Mondeo? Make sure it is the 130!!!.
I never get fed up with it, and always enjoy even looking at it, the fifth gear is fanstactic it will pull from 15mph up to 140 m.p.h. although I never use it..
aftersales service terrible as dealer had car for a week and couldnt sort problem out.
great drive but mpg poor on petrol engines. i would go for diesel next time..
comfortable.reliable and has a good presence on the road competant car that can handles well in any situation motorway or back roads.good sound insulation only time you can hear anything is when ur on pretty bad roads also the sound system is pretty good as is the interior trim solid made to last the day to day abuse quick clear windscreen brilliant feature large interior and no rattles.well done ford!.
I used to have a vauxhall vectra. Mondeo has much less fuel economy but it is a better all round car. It is a work horse, has excellent size, comfort and presence on the road. The power is amazing. I can get 120mph no probs - and it feels like your cruising at 60 - no shakes or rattles..
Excellent to drive, plenty of torque from TDci and no traction control means wheelspin is inevitable in the wet, 6 speed gearbox very precise but needs working to keep engine in fairly narrow powerband, 6th very tall and great for high speed crusing but cannot really be used at less than 130kmh, as engine drops off boost at low revs. Excellent handling for a family hatch, plenty of grip and feedback and resists understeer well. Dunlop NCT tyres fitted are very screechy under hard cornering in the dry, which can be fun but attracts unwanted attention!.
While a bland and dull car, it was cheap to run. Its impact protection systems also probably saved my families and my life when a bus jumped some lights..
Have spoken to my dealer & FORD IRELAND. The car is been taken back for the 5th time by them to try to rectify the problem but they are not optimistic. The problem is an intermittent electricial fault which they are unwilling ot trace due ot the possible cost of replacing the ignition system.
very fast, I have had an Audi A4T pervisouly but the mondeo wipes the floor with it.It looks great with the sports kit and 20"alloys if a little heavy on the petrol when the turbo kicks in..
Basic reliable car.
THIS CAR IS A SAFE AND COMFOABLE CAR AND I LOVE IT TO BITS ALL MY CARS OR GOING TO BE FORD.
Bought it for my wife in 2001. 4 years on and with 112,000 miles on the clock it has been the bargain of my life. It simply goes on and on without a single fault. The engine and gearbox are both as if new, no rattles on the dash, it always starts first time even in mid winter and has always been parked out doors. Everything electrical still works and has just passed its NCT with an emmision level that might show up a new car. Its comfy and easy to drive..
Overall, very reliable, comfortable, and safe drive. I recommend..
Nice Car, 1.6 is a bit under power for a card of it's size. Which might explain why in later years, 1.8 was the entry level. They tend to lose a lot of value in the first few years, which is good if you plan to buy a 3/4 year old model like I did..
Apart from a couple of small annoyances, this car is very comfortable, solid, great drive, reliable and when buying second hand they are excellent value for money..
Test drove a few Passats and Nissans - handles and performs like a dream. Great car..
Having driven both the VW PASSAT and New Avensis the Mondeo wins easily as a far better car to drive and handles superbly.
comfort and reliability.
real flyer, great acceleration and handling but be prepared for large fuel bills, great 2nd hand buy as nobody wants the 2.5 v6, its a cracker.
excellent value for money.
It is a great car and I would have no hesitation in buying another Mondeo from the same dealers.
a real drivers car.
Very comfortable, great bargain, very reliable, good equipment and quiet powerful if a little thirsty.
used to eat the miles with no problems and returned 38 mpg easily,.
Nice Drive & very sturdy feel to it. Lots of room Great safety features very economical to run for size.
189 k on the clock and still running smooth,,,,.
Smooth, comfortable cruiser. Roomy with a big boot. Super ride, handling. Good economy for this class of car. 125bhp engine is sweet. Zetec is fully equipped, much better than LX model, and worth the extra money..
i liked this car alot......i am going to change again in 2004..I THINK I WILL GO FOR MONDEO AGAIN...ALL THE OTHER CARS I FANCY ARE SILLY MONEY...I FEEL ONE IS PAYING TOO DEAR FOR THE BADGE ON FRONT...IMAGE IS NOT WORTH 10,000 EURO TO ME..AND I DO NOT PLAY GOLF SO I DO NOT WISH TO IMPRESS THE BOYS IN THE CAR PARK SO I AM IN THE HAPPY POSITION TO PURCHASE A CAR FOR ME AND ME ALONE... THANK YOU.
Depreciates very badly from new, so 2nd hand bargain. The handling is excellent especially on back roads. If you|re prepared to use the gear box (a lot) the 1.8 TD engine can fairly go, but can be noisy. Great for towing though and economical too. 47Mpg. Excellent value family car for supermini money..
Low profile tyres (alloys) a joke in this country leads to uncomfortable ride on poorly surfaced roads which is our lot. Compliant chassis. Very poor trade in value. Mechanically very sound. Saloon has fair sized boot. Very good value 2nd hand only if you keep it for a while..
Okay, it|s a Ford... which used to mean Fix Or Repair Daily. It is reliable, and does drive well. It|s safety features are very good, and I know from experience that they can take a good knock and still allow the driver to walk away..
very economical to run, comfortable and strong, interior is very plasticy but apart from that very happy with it.
Good ride very sturdy feel to it. Lots of room for kids to move in the back. Great safety features thoughout the car..
It|s about the most spacious car in its class , very comfortable ,and fairly good on petrol considering the engine size..
GREAT to drive. Sure-footed. Looks a bit boring (although it isn|t). Very practical - especially for kids. Lots of clearance in doorways and space in cabin and boot. Well built - solid. Good equipment level. Good sound system. Economical on long runs on open roads - not great around town (but not the worst either). Nearly 2 years on and it still feels like a new car..
Much better performance than earlier models. The biggest problem I have with this car was the poor resale value. This put me off Ford when replacing. I must admit though that the newer 2001 onwards model is very impressive..
Big, comfortable, cheap (due to rapid depreceation), enjoyable to drive. I|d definitely buy another one..
Very strong mid range performance, handling excellent, comfort good.Economic and solidly built. Not great rearward visibility when raining in saloon, otherwise I couldn|t fault it..
This was my second Mondeo as I found them to be an excellent drivers car. A good family saloon it is safe and reliable. I had no problems with either car, but was shocked and disgusted with the Ford dealers of Ireland when attempting to trade the car. 4 out of 5 Ford dealers offered me less that non-Ford dealers were willing to give me with only the dealer where the car was bought willing to match my best offer albeit reluctantly. I would never buy a Ford again and find their approach to their customers less than satisfactory..
previous experience on mondeos watch out for faulty sensor on braking system..
